This is a one-page synopsis of my 40-year career in ap= plied psychology, a journey that started with an M.A. in Counseling Psycholo= gy from the University of Maine and a Ph.D. in Research Psychology from t= he University of Oregon.

After graduate school, I was a Research Scientist at t= he Oregon Research Institute, doing basic research in personality assessment f= or a few years. But applied research was more to my liking, so I specializ= ed in program evaluation, doing outcome effectiveness studies for the Peace Co= rps and evaluating family and youth treatment programs for the National Institu= te of Mental Health. During those research years, I was published in the professional literature; I participated in national and regional profession= al associations (APA, WPA) and competed successfully for federal grants and contracts. = ;

After about 16 years in this research environment, I t= ook a sabbatical to train in video production for educational and marketing applications, and to expand my research interests into the business/professional community as a marketing research consultant. F= or the next six years I specialized in strategic marketing for professional service providers, conducting client surveys and consumer focus groups to h= elp practitioners better serve their clients.

I then spent 11 years in Hawaii where I continued my consultancy (Program Research Services) while also administering a counseling and social work agency for five years on the Big Island of Hawaii. There I served on several community taskforces and councils and contracted with the= Hawaii Island United Way= to train 35 community service agencies on how to conduct useful outcomes measurement.

Now living in Oregon, I volunteer as Pre= sident and Board Chair of Implementation Sciences International, Inc. a non-profit that trains and evaluates community service professionals in the PMT Model (Parent Management Training), an evidence-based approach resulting from 30 years of research and development at the Oregon Social Learning Center (OSL= C) in Eugene.

In addition to applied research and community wor= k, I have taught courses in psychology, research, and marketing at nearby universities and colleges whenever possible. Presently, distance educa= tion mentoring is my primary career path. I am excited by the distance learning environment and the technology that makes it possible. Helping other professionals attain their career or personal goals fits well with my other professional activities. Currently I am a full time Research= Professor at North Central University (based in Prescott AZ), where I mentor mid-career professionals working on their doctoral dissertations in psychology.
